Hi everybody! Super short notice, but on Saturday from 3:00-5:00 p.m. local time I’ll be at the Lake Arlington branch of the Arlington (Texas) Public Library system as part of an art “demonstration.” I’ll pretty much just be sketching at random and talking process with visitors, but I’ll have some past originals (including some Sanford Park work) with me, and I’ll have either a handout or some kind of activity (or both!) to encourage creative comicking.
There are usually other artists at these things, ranging from illustrators to art teachers to art students with pretty cool work. It’s come-and-go, and normally a lot of fun.
In the morning, there will also be an illustration workshop for kids. I don’t know if any kind of signup is required for that, so if you’re interested contact the library and ask for the children’s librarian.

I don’t want to dwell on mistakes, but I want to apologize for the strip being late this week. It’s a major goal of mine to update on an incredibly consistent schedule, and I’m really frustrated about this strip being over a day late, and also about the fact that I just now realized it.
The relatively good news is that this was due to a mistake I made in choosing the post date for this particular strip, so this doesn’t reflect a drop in actual strip production (writing, drawing, scanning, etc.). So Thursday’s strip should be on time. But this makes twice in 15 updates the strip hasn’t posted as scheduled, and this time I don’t have the “I didn’t understand the update software” excuse.
So again, the only thing to do is to go forward and improve, chalking mistakes up in hindsight to growing pains on the way to success. But a missed update is a missed commitment, so I wanted to acknowledge that.
But hey, how about it, eh? I thought this one was pretty good.
…and so the first longer-ish storyline wraps up today (oh hey, look at that, coincidentally my birthday) and I’m really glad. We have two new characters in the mix, and for now we all know the entire recurring cast. I felt like this was a good way to introduce these two characters, but now that the introductions are over we can get on with getting to know them and the others a bit better with some more developmental material.
Hey, remember when I said I was going to periodically update a blog? Yeah, you may have noticed that didn’t work. I’m still trying to think of some kind of regular blog feature, but I’m having a little trouble ironing out a fairly consistent update schedule, as well as a theme or topic for it. (For one-shot news items like this I can always use the blog portion of a comic post.) Any ideas? Comment it up!
Also on the backlog of things I want to eventually do are some new pages and features for the site. We’ll see how quickly I can catch up and get to stuff.
