For whatever reason, I had a lot of fun coming up with this little storyline. I know I’m going a week or so into November with what’s essentially a Halloween storyline, but I thought the “cliffhanger” (such as it is) would be better for Halloween than the resolution “punch line.”
A lot of cool things have randomly happened to me lately. Here is a sampling:
Last week, the team at my “day” job, who didn’t know my birthday ’til it had passed, threw me surprise unbirthday party to “make up” for it. It was one of the greatest shows of generosity I’ve ever experienced in that kind of environment, and it kind of blew me away.
We got Internet service at our house. That’s right, up ’til now, I’ve been updating an online comic strip without even having a connection at home! We may have to do some tweaking of the service (it’s not quiiiite as reliable as I’d prefer) but I think it’s here to stay.
I heard an interview with some of the guys who worked on Toy Story 3, and in 2 weeks I’ll be able to talk to my wife about it when she finally sees it.
Speaking of, I had an incredible lunch date with my wife, during which we checked out a new restaurant which serves fantastic macaroni & cheese and also good chocolate chip cookies. Do you need anything more in this world? (You LIE!)
I’ll admit I’m a latecomer and perhaps even a fair-weather fan, but the Rangers in the playoffs is pretty exciting here in Texas. Although I’m not frothing at the mouth like some of the local folks. Still pretty great.
I also had a pretty great idea for a new project. So all in all, things are great here. What’s great with you?
There really is such a bird as Disconcertibird. He was a pigeon who perched on a column under an eave just outside the door of the apartment we lived in a couple of years ago. He would motionlessly stare at you, and he could not be intimidated. It got to the point that if he wasn’t there, I had to check the number on the door to make sure I had the right place. He really was kind of eerie.
My friend Errol named him, and that name gave me the idea for this storyline. And can you blame me for stealing it? That’s the greatest name ever.
